AIRS: Streaming Audio Services
The Braille Challenge
On June 20, 2009 at 6:30 PM Pacific Time, AIRS broadcasted the Braille Challenge live from the Hilton Universal Hotel in Los Angeles, California. The top sixty regional finalists from throughout the United States competed in this, the largest nationwide Braille competition, to determine the most proficient reader and writer in Braille. Our team of Max Flehinger and Jennifer Hecker described the ceremony so that friends and family members of the competitors can listen from their homes. You can listen to a podcast version at this link.
Watch This Space for Future Streaming Audio Programs
Streaming audio programs are offered from time-to-time whenever there is a significant event that warrants real-time coverage for our reading-impaired audience. In the past, this has included events such as the Tournament of Roses Parade, the Foundation Fighting Blindness's VISIONWALK, and the Braille Institute's Braille Challenge.
Unlike Podcasts, which are our primary communication vehicle, streaming audio requires you to listen while the event actually takes place.
We promise to give you adequate advance notice of such events on our home page and this page. As the event nears, you will be given links and instructions for listening as well as a precise schedule.
Happy listening!
