Current AIRS Equipment Needs
AIRS currently does most of its recording at a "studio" in the home of one of our volunteers. This temporary home will have to be replaced by a real studio, and this will have to be equipped with modern equipment. The situation is further complicated by the terrible state of commuting in Los Angeles - a single centralized studio simply costs our volunteers too much in the way of commuting time, not to mention expense, with gasoline currently at 4 dollars per gallon. We find that simple home studios are a nice solution for those of our volunteers having home computers, sufficient space, and an affinity for technology. But operating such home studios requires additional equipment. We also record remotely at events of interest to the visually impaired community and have plans for a podcast series during which celebrities, medical providers and visually impaired persons will be remotely interviewed. Again, specialized equipment will be needed. Some of our more immediate need for equipment is summarized below. If you can donate either the equipment or cash with which to buy it, AIRS and our visually impaired listeners would be very grateful.
